R.M. Williams Bath

Set along Bath’s iconic retail strip and framed by beautifully preserved historic buildings, the new R.M. Williams store reveals itself with quiet confidence. Tucked behind a bold, proportioned façade, the modest entry and vestibule give little away, before opening into a retail experience that seamlessly fuses past and present. Designed with restraint, the space carefully deconstructs the old while thoughtfully layering in the new, honouring the building’s history while ensuring the brand story remains front and centre.

Authenticity is celebrated throughout. The ceiling was refreshed while the walls were deliberately left bare, revealing a textured, time-worn backdrop. Vintage wall fixtures, paper pendant lights, a striking leather lounge, and reclaimed full-height mirrors anchor the heritage narrative, while new fixtures were designed with precision to sit naturally among the old. An oversized fitting room with a three-sided mirror introduces a sense of grandeur, complemented by centrally placed tables for storytelling and elevated product presentation. A painted datum line subtly defines the transition between restored heritage surfaces and new finishes, allowing the character of the raw, aged walls to shine.
